In a nutshell: In the article titled “A manifesto concerning Artificial Intelligence for monitoring Sustainable development: The missing link between SDGs, Investment and trust“ we present a manifesto where social impact bonds can be combined with AI to create credibility and demonstrating tangible advancements towards SDGs, advocating for a unified endeavor among NGOs, the UN, corporations, investors, and nations to forge a solid, open, and transparent system for quantifying and certifying SDG achievements.
Mechanisms to optimise research excellence in the Global South

In a nutshell: In the article titled “Artificial Intelligence and development projects: A case study in funding mechanisms to optimise research excellence in sub-Saharan Africa“ we show how a bottom-up approach with small-scale investments has resulted in significant research on different scientific, non-scientific, engineering and educational topics, including a profile of African languages. We conclude that, on first impression, independently of the funding mechanism, there is a
case for sub-Saharan Africa to receive much greater funding for AI in science.

In a nutshell: Due to the magnitude of the tasks Governments should not only embrace opening the data, but also create favorable conditions for beneficial AI engagement that creates new knowledge out of the open data, for evidence-based decision-making. Reading through this report we present guidelines for Governments to establish an action plan as well as an open data policy for sustainable development.

In a nutshell: I edited the Slovenian version of a graphic novel on Artificial Intelligence and ethical aspects of digital technologies especially appealing to children. The comic aims at providing an educational media to young adults who are curious and interested in learning more about AI, its challenges and stakes.

In a nutshell: The report offers a comprehensive look into the landscape of AI development and governance across the African continent. Highlighting responses from 32 member states, the report underscores the burgeoning potential of AI to address a wide array of developmental challenges, despite existing infrastructural and capacity gaps. A noteworthy $89 trillion has been allocated globally towards SDG-aligned investments, with AI positioned as a pivotal tool for achieving sustainable development goals.
